Dil fir bhar aaya…

Na jaane kyu aj fir bhar aya hai ye dil..

Kya ye hai kisi puraani yaad ka saraab,
Ya toota hai koi naya sa khwaab.
Kya chhoote daaman ki hai ye chhaap,
Ya uthle Paani me doobne ka hai pashtataap.

Chhota sa dil, na jaane na pahchaane,
Moorakh sa sabko ye Apne hai maane.
Bhool Jata hai aksar ye un khanjaron ka Dard,
Tez garmi me bhi saha hai bhavnaon ka Sard.

Shayad sochta hai ke Kahi jayega koi ise mil,
Par Abhi bhi Na jaane kyu aj fir bhar aya hai ye Dil.

Equalizing Inequality

I had a chance to prepare a 2 minute video which talks about reducing inequality in the society. Here is a transcript of the video.

Before I go about sharing my idea to reduce inequality in the world, let me succinctly explain what is inequality.

Inequality is basically a disproportionate distribution of goods, wealth, opportunities, reqards, status etc in the society. Most commonly used measurement is Gini coefficient.

But how does it actually surface? Well, when there is asymmetry in information, in knowledge, in skills, and that is what we need to balance if we were to stride towards equality.

From where does this asymmetry arise? Is it the complexity in perceiving knowledge and gaining skills? If it is so, then is it possible to simplify this learning curve and process.
Has this been designed and ingrained in a way that only a selected few can take advantage of it?

Well the onus is on us to uncomplicate things, to break these invisible barriers and be inclusive and to develop trust among ourselves so that every person can be a part of this growth.

By augmenting skills and knowledge of society as a whole and all individuals in particular, we can probably develop an open structure which is free from division in terms of status or money.

Certainly this has to be bolstered by core values and policies like progressive taxes, transparent and open trade, recognising the rights of people across all sections, being mutually respectful and sensitive towards environment. Denmark is a brilliant example that shows 35% reduction in inequality through progressive taxes and policies.

And who knows, AI, robotics etc may lead us all into an utopian world where robots work for us and generate wealth that is equally divided and just not money for the privileged few.
