As I was passing by your favourite cafe quietly,
A desire of seeing you slipped in silently.
A thought came that I should stop by,
With fingers crossed, praying to espy.
Tapping my foot in anxiety, I felt fettered,
Tried holdin’ on to my nerves as I entered.
The bell at the door tinkled giving me chills,
My eyes exploring for the heart, it fulfills.
All hairs stood on end as if a lightning struck,
For I saw you sitting with a novel and a mug.
Captivated, as you were right infront of my eyes,
Emanated out of my dream, but more beautiful to my surprise.
My steps trembling, it was hard to even trudge,
Paralyzed by your beauty, they refused to budge.
Mustered all my strength, advancing tile by tile,
Suddenly you looked up at me with your ravishing smile.
Everything came to a halt, not even the time was spared.
A beautiful bomb exploded and your splendour glared.
Hit by gusts of cool breeze in a hot summer,
Was it the flattering of your eye lashes, I wonder.
Your gaze swiftly shifted back to your novel,
While mine was fixated on you, numb and boggled.
My enchantress, spellbinding was your attire,
Found it hard to stand, engulfed in your fire.
Finest red coat over an elegant blue dress,
Adored you, as you multiplied their finesse.
One hand held the book, other fondled your chin,
The coffee mug got jealous as the novel passed a grin.
I got entangled in those lovely hairlock,
With the most perfect eloquence, they sensuously talk.
Is she for real or a figment of my imagination,
I pinched myself as my heart demanded a confirmation.
And still you were there, engrossed in your sweet world,
What all dreams have you woven and impearled.
Do unicorns gallop in your rainbow meadows,
Or do orchids sing and dance with shadows.
Are you all alone solving an exciting mystery,
Or with a protagonist of the novel from foreign embassy.
I wish I was the one with you in your dream,
If possible, be a part of your world and your team.
But I am just an admirer whose world is your smile,
Which your sweetest heart never fails to pass in style.
The cup was waiting again to be caressed by your lips,
To see your eyes reflection in the coffee as you take sips.
To feel those delicate fingers and your feather palm,
While I sat enthralled admiring your beauty and calm.
Fancying to see your smile again and that mysterious gleam of your eyes,
And wishing for the time to stop forever that very moment they materialize.
And I shall love you even after becoming a statue,
For you are the impeccable sculpture, the Gods chiseled through.
You are that painting I can not even dream to brush,
Yet here I am, a possessed fool, wishing to be your world, your mush.
This is dedicated to all the girls out there. You are the pride of each and every nation. You might not say it out loud, but it doesn’t require a genius to see your true mettle. You are the creator and the protector and also an annihilator when time calls for it. You are the flowers that beautify a garden. You are the ferocious river that forge its own path. You are everything from simplicity to perfection!! So this poem (english and hindi) goes for you:-
Janami thi mai jis din ek nannhi si kali banke,
Bulaya tha sabne mjhe pari aur jhulaya tha haske.
Gulaab ki kopal si komal, barf ke gole si gori,
Naazuk si jaan bngyi najane kitno ki muskan.
Hui mai badi, mere kadmo me aai thodi jaan,
Ungli pakad kar meri sbne sikhaya bharna udaan.
Khelti thi, khilkhilati thi, kbhi hasti to kbhi rojati thi,
Par jo bhi karti thi, mayus chahro ko khush kr jati thi.
Kbhi tutlati, kbhi naak fulati, kbhi chillati aur kbhi sojati,
Sote sote na jaane kin sapno me khoti aur kitne sajati.
Sabki ankho ka taara ban apni meethi awaz sunati,
Kohinoor kahke sab bulate aur mai sharma k chhip jati.
Hu mai sabki ladli , sbki pyari aur dulaari,
Bhar deti thi angna ghar ka leke ek kilkari.
Jaise jaise hui mai badi maano kuch badalta gaya,
Pahuchna to tha chaand tk, pr chaand bhi kahi chhip gaya.
Lakshya ho jitna bhi bhari, sambhal leti mai wo bhar,
Par najane kaunsi thi wo bediyan jo rokne lagi bar bar.
Udna tha sikhaya jis pari ko khule neele aasmaan mai,
Najane kaun kaat raha hai uske pankh beech maidan mai.
Wajood hai mera, sapne hai mere, jeena hai abhi mujhe,
Choona hai asmaan, aur pahuchna hai chaand taro k paar mujhe.
Rokna mat, kohinoor hoon, sab hansil karjaungi,
Jo sath na mila, to bin sahare hi jag jeet laungi.
Hoon to mai ab bhi sabki ankho ka taara,
Par ab is taare ko bhi jalna hoga,
aur jalke is duniya ko andhere me roshan krna hoga.
Jo na kiya maine is sansaar se andhkaar ko door,
To janam lengi pariyan aur kho dengi pankh hoke majboor.
Born as a beautiful sapling I waddle,
Epithet as angel everyone rocked my cradle.
Softer than a rose petal, fairer than the snow,
My delicacy became everyone’s smile and glow.
As I grew up and I began to stride,
Holding my finger I was taught to glide.
I laughed, I enjoyed, I smiled and I cried,
Brought on gloomy faces – smiles so wide.
I stuttered, I fumbled, I screamed and slept,
In sleeps I dreamt, dreams where I leapt.
Apple of everyone’s eyes I sung in my sweet voice,
On being called a diamond I hid without giving a choice.
Growing into adolescence things started to change,
My aim was moon but it waned out of sight and got strange.
No matter the responsibility I could carry the weight,
But those were the shackles that bound me constraint.
An angel was taught to drift across the open blue sky,
But someone has been breaking the wings so that I don’t fly.
I exist, I dream, I aspire to live and break the bars,
I wish to fly beyond the moon, the sun and the stars.
Don’t stop me, I am the glitter that will outshine all,
Even single handedly I can win wars and conquer all.
Albeit I am still the apple of most eyes while others remark,
But this star has to burn to spread its light in this darkness stark.
And if I fail to conquer the darkness and spread my light,
Angels will take birth and continue losing their wings without flight.
